My life changed this past 4th of July weekend. Last year I was waiting for my fiancé to come home and worrying about fireworks triggering my PTSD. This year, I was single, living with my parents, and devising an impulsive plot to take my life because I couldn't handle reality any longer. What a difference a year makes. I’m taking this category into a new direction as of this week. Although challenging myself to overcome anxiety has been rewarding, I want to test out positive affirmations as a new way to calm anxiety. Choosing to see the positive or reaffirming to myself that the world is a kind, loving, and generous place is another way for me to calm anxious thoughts and fears.
